Leader and Team Discussion Guide
Leaders and managers play an important role after survey results are released. Their job is not to defend the results or solve everything in one meeting. Their job is to understand local themes, listen well and identify practical actions within their control.
Leader posture
| Instead of | Use this |
|---|---|
| “The results are wrong.” | “Help me understand what this result looks like in practice.” |
| “Who said this?” | “What patterns or examples should we pay attention to?” |
| “We can’t fix that.” | “What part of this is within our control, influence or escalation?” |
| “Here is the full report.” | “Here are the key themes and what we will do next.” |
Team discussion questions
- What result feels most important to discuss?
- What result is a strength we should protect?
- What result needs more explanation?
- What is one practical improvement within our control?
- What issue needs escalation beyond the team?
- How will we check whether anything has improved?
Do not
- share confidential or small-group results;
- identify or guess who made comments;
- over-promise changes;
- focus only on negative results;
- run a discussion if you are not prepared to listen.
