Leaders and Managers
Leaders and managers influence both survey participation and post-survey trust. Employees will watch whether leaders take feedback seriously.
Before and during the survey
Managers should:
- encourage participation without directing how employees should respond;
- make time for employees to complete the survey;
- explain the purpose and confidentiality arrangements using approved wording;
- support employees who need access, translation, paper or assisted completion options;
- avoid guessing who has or has not responded.
After results
Managers should:
- understand the results before discussing them with teams;
- focus on practical themes rather than defending scores;
- discuss local issues where reporting rules allow;
- escalate issues outside their control;
- agree a small number of practical team actions;
- keep employees updated on progress.
Recommended language
The survey gives us a structured way to understand what is working and what needs attention. We will not be trying to identify individual responses. Our focus will be on themes, practical actions and closing the loop with employees.
